Artist Bio

Brendon Leung is a New Zealand-based abstract painter whose practice approaches painting as a way of processing experience through meditation, observation, and intuition. His work explores the shifting relationships between perception, human emotion, and atmosphere, transforming lived experience into abstract fields of colour, light, and gesture.

Working across canvas and found surfaces, Leung builds each painting through an intuitive process of addition and reduction. While the works appear pared back, they are composed of countless layers of paint that slowly accumulate into quiet, atmospheric surfaces, allowing memory, landscape, and environment to merge and evolve into compositions that exist somewhere between the physical and the psychological states of experience.
